5 Reasons to Visit Fayetteville This Fall
Get Lost in two Corn Mazes in Cumberland County
The Gallberry Farms Corn Maze’s 5-acre design for 2021 is a Salute to First Responders. A smaller “Fairy Tale” maze, in addition to the bigger maze, is ideal for younger children. On Fridays, the hours are 5-10 p.m., Saturdays, 12-10 p.m., and Sundays, 1-6 p.m. Tickets are available for two-time windows each day: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Each time slot will have a maximum of 300 tickets available.
Form a line at the Lake of Hope Mills
At Hope Mills Lake, the entire family will have a great day. Anglers in your family just need a North Carolina fishing license to fish from the shore for bass, crappie, bluegill, and sunfish. Rent a kayak from Yakalacky Outfitters and fish the deeper waters if they like to fish from the sea. Weather permitting, other family members can rest in the shade on the beach, play on the playground, or swim.
Tour the Botanical Garden of Cape Fear
While the Cape Fear Botanical Garden is attractive all year, the fall season is particularly stunning. Camelia, Daylily, and Shade Gardens, Butterfly Stroll and Children’s Garden, and the Heritage Garden with an 1886 homestead and agricultural facilities are among the features of the 77-acre Cape Fear Botanical Garden, which is located two miles from downtown Fayetteville. Autumn is also an excellent time to see migratory birds, butterflies, and hummingbirds. They are quite busy and gorgeous now that the mating season is finished. When visiting the garden, be sure to stop at the Great Lawn.
At Carver’s Creek State Park, take a Hike and Eat a Picnic Lunch
Carvers Creek State Park is a great place to get some exercise and explore 10 miles of simple trails. Two trails go to Long Valley Farm, James Stillman Rockefeller’s winter residence, from the Long Valley Farm access point at Spring Lake. Hikers, bicyclists, and horseback riders may explore seven paths of varying lengths at the Sandhills Access on McCloskey Road in Fayetteville. Each route provides a distinct perspective on the ecology and fauna of this endangered Longleaf Pine environment. Visitors are likely to encounter active red-cockaded woodpeckers (identified by a white band) and even a fox squirrel scampering through the woods during a trip.
Dirtbag Ales Brewery & Taproom is the Place to be in the Afternoon
What began as a small brewery has grown into a complex with a variety of alternatives. On a 5-acre plot of property. A brewery, an on-site restaurant, Napkins, a permanent Redneck Labs BBQ food truck, a huge playground area, a dog park, and plenty of open space are all available at Dirtbag Ales. So grab a couple of chairs and bring the dog and kids outside to spend some quality time together. Dirtbag Ales has opened Dirty Whiskey, a craft cocktail bar for those over 21. Specialty cocktails and North Carolina spirits are on the menu.
